About ME Department
Introduction
The Bangladesh Army University of Engineering & Technology (BAUET), a place with deep traditions focused on creating knowledge and technology, wants to change the world through groundbreaking research and cutting-edge teaching and learning techniques. Mechanical Engineering is perhaps the most diverse and versatile of the engineering disciplines. In addition to physical sciences, it encompasses key elements of aerospace, electrical, civil, chemical and even materials science and bioengineering. Mechanical engineers analyze applied mechanics and design using the principles of motion, energy, and force- ensuring that machines function safely, efficiently, and reliably, all at a competitive cost. Anything that needs to be manufactured-indeed, anything with moving parts- needs the expertise of a mechanical engineer. To build sustainable industrial development, the role of a mechanical engineer is remarkable. With the aim to supply such high standard engineers, the university wants to offer the mechanical engineering (B.Sc. Eng.) program by May 2021 (Summer Semester).
Vision and Mission
The vision of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is focused on providing an education that builds within students a solid ground in mechanical engineering principles, expands the reasoning, communication and problem-solving abilities of students to develop and maintain a world-class research program that addresses the evolving needs of industry and society. Keeping this vision in mind the mission of the department is:
- Provide fundamental knowledge in life sciences and engineering.
- Inspire the students to be creative, self-learning and innovative.
- Equipping the graduates with the knowledge of professional responsibility, ethics, the global and societal impact of engineering decisions.
- Flourish their leadership roles in a rapidly-changing environment.
- Produce individuals who can work well either independently or in a team.
- Reinforce the communication skills that qualify them to assume their social responsibilities after graduation.
Why study ME at BAUET
The undergraduate curriculum of Mechanical Engineering at BAUET is strongly based on project-based teaching-learning. It combines mechanical engineering, science and mathematics papers to give a good understanding of engineering theory and practice and thereby, we align what is being learned with what the industry requires. If we want to achieve our sustainable development goal by 2030, we need to be able to independent of foreign technology and make our own. It is now evident that steps must be taken to efficiently exploit the advances being worldwide in industrial technology. Indeed, a highly qualified group of graduates can modify existing technology or develop new technologies, tailor-made for the Bangladeshi industrial system babu-88.com. They will play a major role in research in the life sciences and development of machines and control systems for efficient production and thus the need for mechanical engineers is extremely high. We aim to teach the scientific principles underpinning mechanical engineering and to show how these principles can be applied to design solutions to real engineering problems. Practical skills are taught in a programme of laboratory and workshop sessions. Pursuing a degree here could be the best experience and a defining moment. In addition to acquiring knowledge, making friends and being taught by eminent teachers, a degree at this department will help to develop invaluable transferable skills which can be applied to academic life or professions in the industry.
