Introduction
Having established on 20 January 2015, Bangladesh Army University of Engineering & Technology (BAUET) started Business education with thirty-nine students opening a Faculty, School of Business in January 2016. The School of Business has only one Department named Department of Business Administration which provides the areas of concentration on Accounting, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Finance & Banking, Industrial Management, International Business, and Management Information Systems.
The School of Business of the BAUET offers three programs- BBA, MBA and EMBA. The School is housed in a spacious building located at Qadirabad in Natore District. It is supported by excellent library services, computer laboratory, cafeteria and recreation facilities.
The School has foreign trained and experienced full time and part time faculty members. In addition, highly qualified professional personalities/executives from business and government organizations provide practical knowledge of the real business world and the art of management to the students, who are studying business education to cater the needs of business world.
BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (BBA)
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program consists of 135 credit hours spread in 45 courses. The courses consist of 30 general core courses, 9 compulsory/ major courses, 1(one) free elective course, internship equivalent to one course and Viva – Voce equivalent to four- course. The viva-voce will be spread over four years with 100 marks for at the end of each year. After completion of all the courses, students are required to undergo Internship Program in any business organization to have practical knowledge. The general / core courses will be offered in the first, second and third year of the program. On successful completion of general / core courses, the students will choose an area of concentration from among those offered by the University, provided at least ten students sign up to enroll into that area of concentration. Free elective may be taken from the area(s) which the concerned students have not already taken as major, provided at least ten students must sign up to enroll into elective (minor) course. Students may choose free elective from their major areas too if they want to, however provided that ten students must sign up to enroll into that course.
The Internship Program is to be carried out in a business organization, usually in the form of applied research work in the relevant area of concentration. The Internship Program will be offered at the end of fourth year (final year) of study. The grade obtained in the Internship Program will affect the CGPA, and 3 credit hour of weight is allotted for the program as mentioned above.
- Number of Semesters in a Year. There will be two regular semesters (1st semester, 2nd semester) in an academic year to continue the BBA Program.
- Completion procedure of the program: The students who will not be able to pass all the subjects in a semester final examination, s/he will require appearing in the re-examination (referred examination) within six weeks after publishing the result as will be arranged by the University for the smooth continuation of the program. The unsuccessful students if any, in the re-examination (referred examination) will need to get readmission in the next available batch to continue the program. To complete the program, a student will get maximum of 6(six) years of time period.
- Elimination Procedure from the Program: If any student gets less than CGPA 2.00 at the completion of up to 4th year, s/he will be dropped from the program as Passing CGPA is minimum 2.00, but in any special case, s/he may be allowed to continue the program for another one year to observe her/his progress.
- Course Pattern and Credit Structure: The undergraduate program is covered by a set of theoretical courses along with a set of laboratory-based courses to support them.
- Assignment of Credits. The assignment of credits to theoretical course is 3 credit hours as stated below:
- One credit means 15 hours of teaching for theoretical courses. That means 3 credits is equal to 45 hours.
- Credits are also assigned to field work.
- The Grading System
The Letter Grade. The total performance of a student in a given course is based on continuous assessment. For all the courses, this continuous assessment is followed through a set of quizzes, class evaluation, class participation, homework, assignment and a semester final examination. Each course has a certain number of credits as described earlier. The performance measured of a student in terms of numerical figure will be given letter grade as per the following table.
A letter grade with a specified number of grade points is awarded in each course for which a student is registered. A student’s performance is measured by the number of credits completed satisfactorily and by weighted average of the grade points earned. A minimum grade point average (GPA) is essential for satisfactory progress. 126 credits have to be acquired in order to qualify for the degree. Letter grades and corresponding grade points will be awarded in accordance with the table given below:

*Subject in which the student gets ‘F’ grades will not be counted towards credit hours requirements and for the calculation of Grade Point Average (GPA).
- Distribution of Marks. Thirty percent (30%) of marks of a theoretical course shall be allotted for continuous assessment i.e., quizzes and homework assignments, in class evaluation and class participation. The rest of the marks will be allotted to semester final examination that will be conducted centrally by the University. The distribution of marks for a given course will be as follows:

The number of quizzes of a course shall be at least three; evaluation of the performance in quizzes will be on the basis of the best two quizzes. The outlines of continuous assessment of students on a particular course will be distributed or announced by course teacher on the first day of class started.
