Abdul Monem<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong><br \/>\nPanaroma-611<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Thermodynamics Lab of the Mechanical Engineering Department at BAUET is one of the core labs. It is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of thermal sciences. Through well-structured experiments, students gain practical insight into various thermodynamic processes, including internal combustion, steam generation, refrigeration cycles, and fuel analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The experiments are designed to enhance the students\u2019 ability to conduct data collection, performance evaluation, and critical analysis, while also developing their technical reporting and communication skills. Enhances conceptual clarity of engine components such as crankshaft, camshaft, piston, valves, fuel injectors, and the combustion cycle.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Vapor Compression Refrigeration System<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A Vapor Compression Refrigeration Unit that demonstrates the refrigeration cycle using a compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator. Enables students to observe the principles of heat absorption and rejection.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Sling Psychrometer<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A handheld instrument with wet and dry bulb thermometers used to determine relative humidity and dew point of air. Teaches the psychrometric process and properties of moist air, which is essential for HVAC system design.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Electric Steam Boiler<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A compact, electrically heated steam boiler used to study the generation of steam and basic boiler operations. Introduces students to boiler components, steam properties, and safe operating practices in steam systems.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong><\/strong><strong>Sectional Model of a Turbofan Jet Engine<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A detailed sectional display of a modern turbofan engine, showing components such as fan, compressor, combustion chamber, turbine, and exhaust nozzle. Provides insight into the thermodynamic cycle of gas turbines and the working of aircraft propulsion systems.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong>Flash Point and Fire Point Apparatus<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Standard test equipment for determining the flash and fire point temperatures of lubricating oils using Cleveland open-cup methods. Helps students understand fuel safety characteristics, ignition properties, and standards for fuel quality control.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><strong>Four-Stroke Single Cylinder Petrol Engine<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A working petrol engine test bed equipped with dynamometer, fuel flow meter, and temperature sensors for evaluating engine performance.
